Ordrupgaard Museum September 07 2016
Hafnia director Wilhelm Hansen and his wife Henny Hansen established the museum in the years 1916-18, making it a home for an exquisite selection of French impressionist art and Danish art. Included in the collection are famed artists such as Monet, Gauguin, and Hammershøi.
The world famous furniture architect Finn Juhl, who we have featured before, built his house here in 1941 in a neighboring area and lived there until his death in 1989. Today the home has been turned into a part Ordrupgaard, as a museum of modern furniture design with an all original interior design.
Besides being a hub for fine art, Ordrupgaard is a located in beautiful surrounds and with mesmerizing architecture. In 2005 the Iranian-born star architect Zaha Hadid built the modern new area. A 1.150 square meters extension all constructed in glass and black lava concrete, with a deconstructivistic shape.
