Field Trip: HEART October 12 2016
In this series, we draw focus away from the functionality of backpacks & tote bags and instead bring the influences of our designs in focus. Iwan Baan, a photographer we greatly admire, went to document the fascinating architecture found at HEART museum, located in Herning, Denmark, which is historically known for being the major textile production city of the country.
Herning Museum Of Contemporary Art opened a new museum building in 2009, which was drawn by architect Steven Holl and thus documented by Baan. The new part of the museum has been recognized on a global scale for combining landscape architecture and architecture, in an aesthetically pleasing way, with a one-level construction cutting its way into the landscape. The center is now home to contemporary exhibitions, as well as eatery and auditorium.
In the Italian collection, the works of Piero Manzoni can be found, consisting of works created during the artist´s stay in Herning around the beginning of the 1960´s. Amongst other high profiled artists the works of Paul Gadegaard, Per Kirkeby, Poul Gernes and Bjørn Nørgaard can be found in the collection at HEART.
Put on your rucksack and go for a weekend field trip to HEART!
