The Gemini Residence

This week we turn our heads and inspiration towards the Gemini Residence on the Islands Brygge waterfront in Copenhagen, connecting Vesterbro with Amager. The building is an example of how you can reinvent factory buildings and give them new life. That is a quality, which we highly value at Mismo.

The former soy cake factory used to employ up to 1200 workers from the neighborhood, but in 1990, it was forced to close. The plant is 42 meters tall and 25 meters wide, using the empty storehouses as a foundation for the building. The apartments are built on the outer walls of the silo, focusing a small frame of light coming through the Texlon roof inside the silo.
